  • Is trading legal?

    Although there are a lot of illegal scams out there, everything that we offer is perfectly legal. Protrader and Velocity Trade, our preferred platform and broker are registered and regulated by The Financial Sector Conduct Authority (FSCA).

  • Is my money at risk?

    When it comes to trading, your money will always be at risk, but we teach you the skills to make the correct decisions and manage your money in order to minimize this risk as much as possible. We teach you how to pre-determine your risk before entering a trade, so you don’t end up getting nasty surprises.

  • How much do I need to get started?

    Once you open a live trading account with Protrader, you can start trading with as little as R5 000. Velocity Trade require a minimum starting balance of R5 000.

  • Will I become rich?

    It is possible to make substantial profits through trading, but it is also very possible to lose a lot of money. We teach you the skills to trade cautiously and responsibly in order to make consistent profits. At the end of the day, though, it is up to you how far trading will take you, and how successful a trader you will become.

  • Can I trade part-time?

    Definitely! There are many different types of trading that we teach which range from very active, full-time trading to strategies where you only have to actively trade for a few minutes a day.

  • What shares can I buy?

    Through our preferred platform, Protrader, you can trade any of the shares listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE). It is also possible to trade a whole host of international shares, indices, commodities, forex currency pairs and crypto currencies from this platform.

  • Is it possible for me to lose all of my money?

    If you are not responsible with the management of your capital, it is very possible to lose all of your money (and more) through trading. However, the point of our subscription service is to teach you the skills needed to trade responsibly and successfully.

  • How long does it take to learn how to trade?

    Everyone learns at different rates, and the trading journey is one of constant learning, but you could start trading small positions on a live account within a few weeks of starting the learning process.

  • Can I trade in US dollars?

    Yes. If you wish to trade in US dollars, you can open up a dollar based trading account through us.

  • Where is my money kept?

    When trading on the Protrader platform, your money will be kept in a segregated, interest-bearing account with Nedbank. This ensures that your money is safe and secure.

  • Can you make money in these turbulent economic times?

    Yes, of course. If traded correctly, you can make money in any market conditions. Did you know that you can even make money when the price is going down? It sounds odd, but it’s true – and all of this is covered in our courses which form part of our monthly subscription.

  • What do I need to start trading?

    Apart from your starting capital (minimum R5 000), all you need is a laptop or PC (preferably Windows based) and a stable internet connection. You can also trade from any web browser, and your Android or iOS device. 

  • Can I trade Bitcoin?

    On the Protrader platform you cannot buy and sell Bitcoin per se, but we offer a derivative product based on the Bitcoin price.

  • Can you guarantee profit from trading?

    We cannot make any guarantees. Our focus is to teach you how to practically apply the theory behind being a successful trader and all of the risks involved. The only thing we can remotely guarantee is that we at Sure Trading will be there for you along your entire trading journey.

  • How much can I expect to be making after 3 months?

    This is an almost impossible question to answer, as it depends on numerous factors, but to be completely honest, after 3 months you shouldn’t be trading with massive amounts just yet, as you would still be learning, which would mean your profits wouldn’t be huge. We believe that slow consistent ‘small steps’ is what ultimately makes you a good trader.

  • Can I practice before putting real money on the line?

    Of course! Protrader offers a demo platform which allows you to trade ‘fake money’ in a real market environment. This is a fantastic way to learn the ins and outs of the platform and make those inevitable mistakes without risking your money.

  •  How long can I demo trade for?

    The Protrader demo will automatically block after 30 days. You can easily have it unblocked by opening a live trading account and funding it with a minimum of R5 000. You can then continue to trade on your demo account until you feel confident to start trading for real.

  • How much does it cost to open a live trading account?

    There is no cost involved in opening a trading account. The JSE, however, charges you a monthly fee in the region of R100 for live data feeds to your platform. This is automatically subtracted from your trading account balance every month. The only other fees are trading transaction costs.

  • What are your trading fees?

  • How do I withdraw my money?

    Once you have registered a live platform with Protrader, you will have access to the Tradedesk which has clear instructions on how to withdraw your funds

  • How long does the course take?

    This is entirely up to you. You will go through everything at your own pace. Most of our clients, however, find tremendous value in our regular weekly online meetings and chat group, to which you will have full access when you subscribe.

  • What payment methods do you accept?

    We accept VISA, Mastercard and American Express credit and debit cards.

  • What happens if my card expires?

    There is an option in the Account section to update your card details.

  • What happens if I don’t have sufficient funds in my account for my next payment?

    If your payment fails, a second and third attempt will be made. Should the subsequent attempts be unsuccessful, your membership will be placed on hold until payment is received.

  • I’ve forgotten my password. How do I retrieve it?

    Click on the “Forgot password” button on the Login window. You will receive an email with instructions to reset your password.

  • How do I access the live meetings?

    The link for each meeting is communicated via the Chat Group or email

  • Where can I access the downloads and resources?

    On the Members Dashboard

  • If I cancel my subscription, will I be able to rejoin at a later stage?

    Yes, you will be able to rejoin at a later stage.

  • How do I join the chat group?

    Once your membership is active, you can join the Chat Group via the Dashboard

  • I have a new cellphone number. How can I get my new number added to the chat group?

    Please send us an email at support@suretrading.co.za and we will happily add your new number.

  • Where can I get access to the recordings of the meetings?

    The recordings of the recent meetings can be found on the dashboard of the members’ portal.

  • How do I change my card details?

    You can change your card details in the Members section

  • I want a one-to-one mentorship session with Ross. How do I go about this?

    You can request a one-to-one session with Ross in the Members section. We will then contact you to arrange the session. Please note that these sessions are done by appointment only and are charged per hour.

  • My contact details have changed. How do I update my profile?

    You can edit them in the Members Profile section

  • Can I download the training videos to watch offline?

    Unfortunately not. The training videos are only available to subscribers via the Sure Trading members’ portal.

  • I need help with some of the concepts. Who can I contact?

    As a subscription client, there are 4 ways by which you can get answers to your questions or queries from our support team or experienced traders:

    1.    Our Sure Trading Chat Group on ‘Telegram’
    2.    Our 3 live, online group trading meetings every week (Monday 18h00 to 20h00, Tuesday 08h45 to 10h00, Wednesday 15h30 to 17h00)

  • Do I need to give notice before cancelling my subscription?

    You can cancel at any time. Your access to our services will continue until your current month is up.

  • I want to cancel my subscription. How do I do this?

    The subscription works as an upfront payment for the month ahead, starting on the day you join, so if you want to cancel your subscription, all you need to do is email us at support@suretrading.co.za, requesting that your subscription be cancelled. You will still have access to all our services until the end of the period for which you have paid. You can also rejoin whenever you feel the need to again.

  • Are there any courses I can attend in person?

    At this time, we are primarily doing our courses online. We do, however, sometimes do day seminars around the country – these are communicated to our clients when they happen.

  • Is Sure Trading registered with FSCA?

    Sure Trading are not financial advisers, we are solely education providers, hence it is not necessary for us to be registered with the FSCA.

  • Is Sure Trading a registered broker?

    No, we are not registered brokers. Our preferred provider, Velocity Trade, who provide us with the Protrader platform, are brokers registered by the FSCA, and adhere to all of the regulations set out by them.

  • Do I have to pay tax on my profit?

    Yes. Like any investment where profit is made, there are tax implications.  Our broker provides a yearly report which you can submit to your accountant for income tax purposes.

  • How long has Sure Trading been running?

    Sure Trading started in 2002 in East London and has gone through a lot of changes and evolution since then. 18 Years later, we are based in Cape Town, but have the pleasure of dealing with clients all over the country and the world.

  • Should I read “How to Make Money on the Stock Exchange” before signing up?

    Reading “How to make money on the Stock Exchange” will give you a solid foundation from which to start, but it is definitely not necessary to read it before you subscribe to our service. Everything that is spoken about in the book is covered in some shape or form on our subscription service, plus a lot more constantly growing content.
